Bringing together more than 15 years of experience in the social microfinance sector and labor inclusion sector, Oportunitas Microcréditos Sociales was born in 2016. With a solid professional base, knowledge of the sector, and institutional relationships, Oportunitas aspires to be the first Spanish institution of social microloans that operates at a national level.
Oportunitas is a social microfinance institution that provides microcredits, training and accompaniment to those who do not currently have access to traditional banking due to lack of guarantee. In order to be able to act as a provider of both financial and non-financial services, Oportunitas is structured into two different legal entities that work together: the Oportunitas Foundation and IMF Oportunitas S.L.
The Oportunitas Foundation is registered in the Registry of Foundations of state competence N. 1863 and as such, is a non-profit organization.
The Foundation is also supported thanks to the commercial activity of IMF Oportunitas S.L.
Oportunitas replicates a typical MFI model (Microfinance Institution), where a non-profit organization, the Foundation, is both a participant and a promoter of a limited company, responsible for credit activity.
The Foundation carries out the training, the accompaniment, and the evaluation of the social impact. It also ensures compliance with the social mission to ensure that IMF Oportunitas S.L.’s social microcredits are granted respecting its mission, vision, and values.
The social impact assessment consists of measuring the impact that the foundation hopes to achieve in both the short and the long term with the entrepreneurs with whom it works. The evaluation incorporates three dimensions: economic-labor, emotional, and social.
The evaluation system of our social performance is a commitment that we have with our users, the entrepreneurial environment, and in general with the work that Oportunitas realizes. We use this data to gather evidence that allows us to assess how we are doing as well as how we can continue to seek improvement.
To promote both social and labor inclusion through self-employment and entrepreneurship, particularly among people who are currently in a precarious job situation or at risk of social and / or financial exclusion.
To become the reference institution of social microfinance in Spain, promoting strong social impact, the development of the microfinance sector, and the implementation of good practices recognized by the European Union.
Oportunitas was born thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of its founders. For this reason, all values related to the word “entrepreneurship” are close to us.
The values of entrepreneurship are many, but we want to highlight the following four since they are those with which we identify most closely.
To develop a culture of effort, one must be optimistic, positive, and resilient. We help entrepreneurs not to give up, and to think positively and optimistically about the best ways to overcome difficulties.
The majority of entrepreneurs know what it means to face adversity alone. Oportunitas stands in solidarity with these entrepreneurs and empathizes with the difficulties found in daily challenges.
Entrepreneurship must be sustainable and must not depend on charity, subsidies, or outside funds. Oportunitas strives for dignity and sustainability and has designed its activities accordingly. Oportunitas seeks to be an entity that generates opportunities.
Oportunitas is committed to promoting a vision of the world in which people are the central axis. Our vision focuses on your dreams, your values, and your capabilities. The Oportunitas commitment is a commitment to both people and their projects.
